We Sign Agreement with Panter on Reusables
Espresso House has entered into an agreement with Tingstad and the tech company Panter to offer reusable cups and food containers through a digital return system at all its coffee bars starting from the turn of the year. The return system will make it easier for consumers to comply with the new legal requirement that comes into effect on January 1st. The law mandates that restaurants and cafes selling more than 150 units of food and beverages in disposable packaging per day must provide their products in reusable cups and containers.
The digital return system enables cups and containers to be used repeatedly, promoting a circular and sustainable approach. It is a user-friendly solution for consumers that several major industry players have chosen to adopt, meaning that cups and containers can also be returned at places like Pressbyrån and 7-eleven.
"We are excited about the collaboration with Panter and Tingstad and look forward to implementing this innovative solution in our coffee bars. As the leading coffee chain in the Nordic region, it is important for us at Espresso House to be at the forefront of sustainability, and through this solution, we can make it easier for our guests to make the right choices," says Stina Möller, Country Manager at Espresso House.
"The fact that Espresso House chooses our solution is important. After the turn of the year, Panter will be available nationwide, and Espresso House contributes the scale that this type of solution needs. The more businesses that offer the system, the easier it is for guests, and Espresso House sets the bar high by implementing Panter in all coffee bars," says Clara Lidberg, CEO of Panter.
The reusable cups and containers are free for users, as long as they are returned within a week to Espresso House or another industry participant in the return system. The goal is to encourage a behavioral change in consumers to think circularly and reduce the use of disposable packaging.
